Editorial Workflow

The Editorial Workflow of Ignis Journal Consists of Six Stages:

Stage 1: Submission Acceptance by the Editors. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by the editorial committee (within up to 30 days) to check for potential plagiarism using open-source software and to ensure compliance with the editorial policy, the Code of Ethics, and submission guidelines. If the manuscript passes this initial phase, it will be forwarded for evaluation by ad hoc reviewers with expertise in the field.

Stage 2: Reviewer Assignment. Two specialists in the field, possessing the necessary qualifications for peer review, will be invited to evaluate the manuscript. Each reviewer has an average of 60 days to assess the article's alignment with the journal’s editorial policy, the theoretical-methodological adequacy of the text concerning the proposed objectives, and the contribution of its results to the field of public safety. Reviewers may:
(a) recommend publication without revision;
(b) recommend publication with required revisions;
(c) request resubmission for further evaluation after the necessary changes have been made; or
(d) reject the manuscript for publication.

Stage 3: Manuscript Revision. The authors will receive the reviewers' comments and must revise the text accordingly within the deadline set by the editors (on average, 45 days). Ignis Journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts if the required changes are not submitted within the stipulated timeframe.

Stage 4: Acceptance for Publication. The revised manuscript must be submitted to the editors for confirmation that the reviewers’ suggested changes have been appropriately incorporated, authorizing its inclusion in an upcoming issue of the journal. If the manuscript was initially recommended for “resubmission for further evaluation,” it will be sent back to the original reviewers for verification of the adequacy of the modifications. Additional revisions may be requested at this stage, meaning the manuscript may be returned to the authors for further adjustments. This stage typically lasts around 60 days. The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the reviewers’ requests.

Stage 5: Final Review for Publication. Once accepted, the manuscript will be sent for orthographic, grammatical, and stylistic revision by the editorial team. The revised texts will be submitted to the authors for approval before publication. If authors do not respond to the reviewers' suggestions within the given timeframe, the suggested revisions will be considered accepted. The revision process aims to ensure the clarity and formal quality of the articles published in the journal. The editorial committee reserves the right not to publish manuscripts if the authors disregard the reviewers' recommendations without reasonable justification.

Stage 6: Manuscript Publication in Ignis Journal’s Electronic Edition.

With these measures, the entire process from submission to publication in Ignis Journal is expected to take an average of 18 months.
