Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- Before submitting the article, the author must agree with the principles of Ignis, which are: Novelty, originality, academic integrity, anti-plagiarism, and ethics in human research. Only articles that follow all the guidelines, as well as the instructions regarding form, presented below, are considered for evaluation.
- The authors and co-authors declare that they have not published the submitted article in another journal or that they do not have the same manuscript under review in another journal at the time of the new submission.
- The submission file must be in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word format.
- The articles submitted to Ignis must be original and unpublished, meaning they should not be published or under simultaneous evaluation in other journals or editorial bodies. Pre-prints are considered publications and violate the double-blind review policy.
- The manuscript must be presented in its final version, with spelling and grammatical corrections in the corresponding language and without any revision marks. Articles should have a minimum length of 10 (ten) and a maximum of 25 (twenty-five) pages. Research Notes and Technical Notes should have a minimum length of 6 (six) and a maximum of 10 (ten) pages. Reviews should have a minimum length of 3 (three) and a maximum of 5 (five) pages. Essays and Experience Reports should have a minimum length of 10 (ten) and a maximum of 25 (twenty-five) pages. Texts must be submitted in Arial font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Articles that do not comply with the submission guidelines will not be forwarded for review, and such manuscripts are immediately rejected by the editors.
- The article must not contain any form of identification of the authors, such as NAME, INSTITUTION, or TITLE OF THE RESEARCH PROJECT to which the author(s) is (are) affiliated.
- The abstract should be informative, as per NBR 6028/2021, and contain between 100 and 250 words, in the same format as the article, with font size 10 and single line spacing. It should specify the problem, the central argument, the contribution to the field of literature, the materials or empirical instances, and the methodological choices. It is mandatory to include the title, abstract, and keywords in three languages, one of which must be English. The others can be Portuguese, French, or Spanish, according to the language of the main text. Both the titles and the abstracts must be included in the file and on the platform at the time of submission. The abstract should be preceded by the word "Abstract" and separated from the authors' names by a 1.5 cm blank space. The keywords, indicative of the article's content, should be separated by semicolons (;) and preceded by the term "Keywords," also separated from the abstract by a 1.5 cm blank space.
- The Ignis Journal only publishes texts in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.
- Avoid the use of footnotes. Only include footnotes for essential and substantive information, not exceeding three lines.
- When submitting the text, ALL authors and co-authors must be listed. Provide full name, mini-biography, institutional affiliation, highest level of education, city and state of residence, ORCID (when adding an author/co-author, select the box to send an email to request ORCID authorization from the contributor), and contact email - these details are mandatory for publication. If the work to be published is funded, the funding institution must also be indicated.
- In the case of articles containing tables, charts, graphs, and figures, these must also be submitted as separate files in PNG, JPG, or Microsoft Excel formats. Each one must include the source used, even when it is self-produced (for example, Source: Author, 2024; Source: Created based on data from Gomez, 2020; or self-produced based on Costa, 2020).
- The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the Guidelines for Authors, which can be found below on this same page.
- URLs for references should be provided whenever possible.
- Articles may have a maximum of 4 (four) authors. Research Notes and Technical Notes may have a maximum of 4 (four) authors. Reviews may have a maximum of 2 (two) authors. Essays and Experience Reports may have a maximum of 4 (four) authors. If the work includes more authors than indicated, we request that the number be justified and the contributions of each author be detailed at the time of submission. The criteria for defining co-authorship are provided below.
- The contributions of each author must be submitted in the Comments box for the editor, specifying the criteria according to the Submission Guidelines and Author Guidelines, which can be found below on this page.
- Before submitting the text, ensure that an anonymized footnote is added, indicating if the text was presented at a scientific event (but not published in proceedings) or if it is the result of a final course project, dissertation, or thesis.

You have the right to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material.
- Adapt — remix, transform, and create from the material.
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made. You must do so in a reasonable manner but not in a way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
When submitting a manuscript, the author must sign the responsibility statement, available within the system. In this statement, the author must agree to the following:
a) I certify that, if requested, I will provide or cooperate in obtaining and supplying data on which the article is based, for examination by the editors.
b) I certify that all authors have sufficiently participated in the work to publicly assume responsibility for its content.
For articles with multiple authors, the statement must specify each author's type of contribution, as exemplified below:
a) I substantially contributed to the conception and planning of the project, data collection, or data analysis and interpretation.
b) I significantly contributed to drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing its content.
c) I participated in the approval of the final version of the manuscript.
Copyright Transfer
If the article is approved for publication, the authors must sign the copyright transfer statement and submit it through the system, along with other required documents. In this statement, the author must explicitly declare that:
- I agree that the copyright related to this work will become the exclusive property of the Ignis Journal, and I assure that the work has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another scientific publication.

In accordance with the regulations of Law 13.709, from Brazil, known as the General Data Protection Law (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados - LGPD), Ignis Journal provides below the specific purpose of the data used and how it is collected.
The names, addresses, and general data provided through user registration and submission processes will be used exclusively for the services provided by this journal and by the Military Fire Department of Santa Catarina (CBMSC). This data will not be made available for other purposes or to third parties.
Among the purposes of data usage, the following can be mentioned:
- Communication between the interested parties (Ignis Journal and system users such as authors, reviewers, and registered readers), allowing, for example, users to receive the journal’s table of contents via email for each new edition or notifications related to the editorial workflow.
- Invitations and announcements related to publications, projects, research, and events from Ignis and CBMSC, all aligned with the organization’s priority themes.
- Scientific dissemination of published texts and presentation of author and co-author data as a demonstration of good publishing practices and ethics in scientific journals (Email - chosen by the author to be disclosed; name; ORCID; and institutional affiliation).
All submitted information is stored in the Open Journal System (OJS) and used within the editorial workflow, accessible only by the Editor and the journal’s technical team.
