Abstract

A proteção contra incêndio em edificações é um assunto em frequente evolução no setor da construção civil e da arquitetura. Dentre as medidas de proteção, destaca-se a proteção passiva, que opera independente de ação causada pelos ocupantes da edificação. Este artigo apresenta um levantamento dos princípios e procedimentos encontrados na literatura sobre segurança passiva contra incêndio provida pela compartimentação horizontal e vertical de ambientes. É realizado um levantamento das principais vantagens e características de compartimentação horizontal e vertical, seus componentes, requisitos, bem como os benefícios obtidos em termos de proteção e recuperação de edificações sinistradas pelo uso correto de tais medidas.
