Abstract

A atividade de combate a incêndio é responsável pela maioria dos acidentes ocorridos entre os bombeiros. Entre os riscos envolvidos nesta atividade, um dos mais temidos é o colapso estrutural. O colapso estrutural ocorre de maneira repentina, tem a possibilidade de ser mortal, ocorre com pouco aviso aparente e é responsável por uma grande porcentagem dos incidentes com múltiplas vítimas (NORMAN, 2012). O objetivo deste trabalho é fazer uma revisão bibliográfica exploratória do tema, apontando os principais indicadores de colapso estrutural iminente em caso de incêndio. Foram identificados alguns fatores relacionados às edificações, que por si só tornam estas edificações mais suscetíveis a colapso estrutural, sendo eles edifícios com idades elevadas, edifícios abandonados, edificações construídas com materiais leves (madeira e aço) e reformas defeituosas, onde elementos estruturais da construção são modificados ou até excluídos. Existem indicadores gerais que são aplicáveis a todos os tipos de edificações, e existem riscos específicos intrínsecos aos materiais utilizados na construção. O simples fato de o telhado da edificação possuir treliças, sejam elas de madeira ou de aço, é um forte indicativo de colapso iminente da edificação em caso de incêndio, bem como um incêndio generalizado em um dos pavimentos da edificação.
