Abstract

A combustão de nuvens de gás, pós ou vapores de líquidos inflamáveis é conhecida como explosão difusa ou pseudoexplosão. Explorando qualitativamente conceitos da mecânica dos fluidos, tais como fluidodinâmica e escoamento compressível, este artigo discute como a velocidade de propagação da zona de reação envolvendo combustíveis difusos é influenciada pela turbulência e pela onda de choque. Para diferenciar as reações envolvendo os combustíveis difusos, são propostas duas terminologias: combustão difusa, a qual o trabalho conclui como as reações onde o escoamento é incompressível e a velocidade de propagação não ultrapassa 20% da velocidade do som no meio e; explosão difusa, a qual pode ser deflagração ou detonação.
