Este artigo visa realizar uma análise dos tempos de escoamento de pessoas, tomando por base o caso real, filmado, da boate The Station em Rhode Island – em 2003, aplicando esta análise ao incêndio da Boate kiss em Santa Maria em 2013. Como resultado desta análise foram avaliadas as normas NBR 9077 e IN009/DAT/CBMSC, além de pesquisadas normas internacionais, avaliando o atendimento de seu dimensionamento para saídas, apontando seus pontos positivos e negativos. Diante dos casos de incêndios ocorridos nos últimos 10 anos, este autor propõe ainda os principais fatores que levaram a vitimações de pessoas. Para tanto foi utilizada a estruturação de modelos teóricos- e, descritiva quando o autor transcreve trechos de bibliografias, sem posicionamentos ou juízos de valor acerca do assunto em questão. Já a abordagem do problema foi feita de maneira qualitativa, possuindo como estratégias de pesquisa: bibliográfica, documental e estudos de caso. Por fim como conclusão o autor verifica o não atendimento do dimensionamento das saídas para os casos reais, para alguns fluxos propostos pelas bibliografias, levando a necessidade de revisão das normas.
